Dental Insurance and Your Cosmetic Dentistry
The Center for Esthetic Dentistry in New Haven, CT, may be able to answer all those questions that you have about your dental insurance helping with the costs of cosmetic dentistry. Often times, you may believe that the smile that you have always wanted is only cosmetic in nature, but the truth is many times we find that "dental function" is also a consideration. If "dental function" is associated with the cosmetic concerns, then it has been our experience that dental insurance may help with some of the expense of treatment. A pre-determination can be sent into the dental company questioning coverage on porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, gum re-countouring, implant restoration, and many more different types of treatment. Once a pre-determination is filed, your insurance will send to you an itemized list of treatment that it will be willing to reimburse you. It is simple, easy, and eliminates that worry that you have about the extra help that your insurance can offer! Once insurance has been filed, and you do not hear from the dental insurance company, you don't need to think simply that the services were not covered! You need to take action:
- Call your dental insurance company to see if they received the claim
- Question when the check will be mailed, and to whom it will be mailed
- Mark you calendar on the date that you are told it will be mailed, and then give the check about 10 days to arrive, if you haven't received the check, call the dental insurance back!
Always record the date and the person that you speak to at the insurance company! Many times thousands of dental dollars are never used and paid on due to the insurances just dropping the ball on reimbursement!
If you have any questions about what may be covered to give you the smile that you want! Please call the Center for Esthetic Dentistry, Dr. N. Summer Lerch's office, and the experienced staff in our office will be happy to assist with your question!
